soundstripping - how to?

Hi everyone,
I wonder if it's hard to do your own soundstripping? How much do a sound
stripper cost? What material do you need? How much does it cost? How is it
done?

I don't think new equipment for this is still manufactured, but I sometimes spot the machines for auction on eBay. I haven't paid attention to the prices because I understand that the stiping material itself is hard to come by these days. Somebody else can probably answer your question better than me, because I've never done it and have never even had any film professionally striped. I'll have to do so soon so I can finally use my sound editor and projectors for something other than playing MOS footage!
